About Us

MyGSA.ca is Canada’s national LGBTQ-inclusive and safer schools website. With resources for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning (LGBTQ), and allied youth, parents, and educators, the site exists to help Canadians in their work of starting Gay Straight Alliances (GSAs) and other safer space clubs.

If you are looking for information on starting a GSA or safer space group, want to register an already existing group, or are searching for resources, lesson plans and activities to mix things up at your school, you’re in the right place. You’ll also find a number of other useful resources including a map of LGBTQ-inclusive programs and resources across Canada, as well as listings of books and movies with LGBTQ themes and characters. There’s lots to see so look around!

MyGSA.ca was first created in Spring of 2010 by Egale as part of the Safe Schools campaign, a response to the organizations First National Climate Survey on Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia in Canadian Schools. The site expanded in the Fall of 2012 to include new resources for educators and parents, including original lesson plans, and forums.
